Prerequisites

AQT only runs on Windows and is compatible with the following versions:

• Windows 10 (version 2004 or later)

• Windows 11

AQT runs fine in a Citrix or Terminal Server environment. See Installing & Uninstalling AQT One.

.NET Desktop Runtime for AQT One

AQT One requires the Microsoft .NET 9 Desktop Runtime, in both the x64 and the x86 editions. The AQT One installer checks for the runtime. If it is missing, the installer downloads it from Microsoft and installs it. The machine needs an internet connection for this step.

If the machine cannot reach the internet, or a firewall blocks downloads from Microsoft, install the .NET 9 Desktop Runtime (x64 and x86) from Microsoft first, then run the AQT One installer. See Installing & Uninstalling AQT One.

Note: Microsoft is ending support for .NET 9. A future release of AQT One will require the .NET 10 Desktop Runtime instead. The installer will download and install it in the same way.

AQT One does not use the .NET Framework (versions 2.0, 3.5 or 4.x) that earlier versions of AQT used.

.NET Framework for AQT v11 and AQT v10.1

AQT v11 and AQT v10.1 use the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5. This is not included in the install package.

If you are running Windows 8, Windows 10 or Windows 11, the .NET Framework 4.5 (or more recent) should already be on your machine.

.NET Framework for AQT v9 and v10.0

AQT v9 and v10.0 use the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0/3.5. This is not included in the install package.

If you are running Windows XP SP2, Windows Vista or Windows 7, the .NET Framework 3.5 should already be on your machine. If not, you may need to download and install it.

If you are running Windows 8, Windows 10 or Windows 11, the .NET Framework 3.5 is installed but may not be enabled. To enable it, go to Control Panel > Programs > Turn Windows Features On or Off.

64-bit versions of Windows

AQT runs fine on 64-bit versions of Windows.

When you install AQT One, or AQT v11 or below, on a 64-bit system, you get both a 32-bit and a 64-bit AQT executable. You need to run whichever one is compatible with your database client / ODBC Driver. For instance, if you are using a 64-bit database client / ODBC Driver, you need to use the 64-bit AQT.

For AQT One, the Start menu shortcuts are AQT (64-bit) and AQT (32-bit). There are further notes at Installing & Uninstalling AQT One.

ODBC Drivers

AQT uses ODBC drivers to connect to your database. Before you can use AQT with your database, you need to install and configure both the Database Client and the ODBC Driver. AQT does not supply any ODBC Drivers.

Licence

AQT One needs an activated licence to run. Your organisation’s Admin assigns the licence in the AQT License Portal. See Activating or Deactivating AQT.
